Pega Developer


What we need

We are looking for a Pega Developer to help us work on production issues for our existing Pega application. This role is responsible for monitoring, debugging and resolving issues on daily basis. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills are musts. The individual must have prior experience on application support built using Pega Platforms, and should be able to develop and implement simple-to-medium level functionalities in Pega.


What you’ll do

  • Work on day-to-day production issues to triage, debug and resolve Pega tickets in a timely fashion

  • Collaborate with Pega contractors and other IT technical teams to research and resolve Pega application issues

  • Work with end users to understand day-to-day help desk tickets and assist with any necessary application training

  • Identify existing application technical debts and come up with possible best solutions

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Pega implementation methodology to work on fixes and create Pega utilities to resolve recurring production issues

  • Run frequent health checks on systems to find root causes for performance bottlenecks

  • Conduct daily monitoring of Agents, Listeners, Services, application logs and alert log files and report the critical issues

  • Monitor database health by frequently reviewing table sizes, missing indexes, long-running queries, etc.

  • Proactively organize tickets, create weekly status reports and conduct meetings to prioritize fixes.

  • Manage simple-to-medium code deployments to multiple Pega environments

  • Participate in Pega 8.x development for a subsequent initiative to improve workflow, functionality, work object structure, reporting and system scalability and stability leveraging out-of-the-box strategic apps

  • Perform ongoing hot fix development and functional improvements to deliver continuous improvements

  • Actively contribute to our ongoing DevOps improvement efforts by preparing automated unit tests and participate in implementing performance monitoring and optimized enhancement solutions

  • Develop new code, improve existing code and participate in design specifications and code reviews. Apply compliance and code governance using PRPC best practice architecture and PRPC design techniques, such as case management, workflows, SLAs, reports, integrations, agents, performance tuning, automated testing, release management and work object structure


What you should have

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent certifications and work experience

  • A Pega Certified System Architect (CSSA) certification in Pega 7.x or higher

  • Overall, five years of experience working with IT applications

  • A minimum of three years of experience in designing and developing applications using Pega PRPC

  • Good understanding of database architecture with fair experience on stored procedures

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for enterprise-level applications

  • Hands-on experience on Pega Performance Tools, Clipboard, Tracer and various Pega log files

  • Experience in full PRPC implementation cycle, including enterprise Class Structure design and Rulesets design

  • Experience in tracing job schedulers, queue processors, listeners and services

  • Understanding of customer service and CRM features offered by Pega strategic apps for possible future development efforts

  • Experience in Pega release management, such as branching, packaging work, and deploying to different Pega environments

  • Exposure to a variety of technologies, including but not limited to Jboss, J2EE (JSP, Servlets, EJB, XML, Java), .Net and MS/SQL

  • Experience in web technologies, including Servlets, JSP, XML, CSS, HTML

  • Experience in projects executed in Agile and Scrum methodologies

  • Excellent communication skills that can help when working with cross-teams and end users to resolve issues faster

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks

  • Ability to deliver high-quality and high-value products for internal and external customers
