Senior Instructional Designer

In this new role, you will have the opportunity to help our organization build and formalize a Learning & Development (L&D) function. This function will be responsible for providing high-quality and engaging learning experiences for our audiences. This includes new hire training, upskilling and reskilling opportunities, the use of technology and communication tools, navigating and supporting change, and promoting a culture of learning.


What you'll do

  • Assess the audience’s skills and knowledge to identify areas where training or development would be beneficial. Address identified skill gaps with recommended learning solutions.

  • Recommend a training roadmap that aligns with the organization's goals, and effectively communicates the Learning & Development function’s objectives, priorities, and timelines.

  • ​​Develop the L&D function's style guidelines to ensure consistency and best practices.

  • Create engaging and visually appealing instructional materials to assist in audience development, such as course material and other supportive resources.

  • Develop training implementation launch plans that encourage adoption and the completion of training.

  • Design and implement reinforcement strategies to promote long-term knowledge retention. Utilize a variety of approaches to ensure that new concepts and skills are reinforced and retained.

  • Utilize established approaches to evaluate and measure the impact, effectiveness, and satisfaction of training initiatives.

  • Recommend a preferred e-learning authoring tool and Learning Management System (LMS) that will support the development and delivery of effective training content. The ideal candidate would have experience in selecting and implementing the recommended tools.

  • Lead the entire project cycle for training initiatives from start to finish (requiring exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to identify and prioritize tasks).

  • Stay informed of the latest advancements and trends in learning and development, providing stakeholders across the organization with insights and best practices to further support learning initiatives.

  • Utilize data from the Learning Management System (LMS) and other evaluation sources to identify opportunities for improvement that will enhance the learner's experience and benefit the organization.


What you should have

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, adult education, or related field (Master's degree or professional certifications such as ATD CPLP is preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience designing synchronous and asynchronous training programs delivered via Instructor-Led Training (ILT), Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), eLearning, etc. in a variety of media formats (e.g., text, image, graphics, audio, video, simulations, etc.)

  • Proficiency with eLearning-authoring platforms (Articulate Storyline and Rise, Adobe Captivate, etc.), and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, and Acrobat)

  • Demonstrated experience conducting needs analysis, writing instructional objectives, and recommending instructional models, solutions, and standards.

  • Significant knowledge in the areas of instructional design, adult learning principles, and curriculum development. Candidate must be able to create a comprehensive curriculum for both internal and external audiences.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be comfortable presenting ideas and receiving constructive feedback from all levels of the organization.
