To stay current, we reserve the right to update our Terms of Use & Privacy Notice as needed. Your use of the website will be subject to the most current version of these policies, which you can access via links at the bottom of pages throughout the site.

Under Texas law, TCDRS does not and will not sell or share your personal information to anyone, for any reason, at any time, except as noted below to authenticate your identity and help keep your account secure.

Limitation of Liability

While we make every attempt to ensure the information provided on this website is reliable, human or mechanical error remains a possibility. Therefore, TCDRS does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness or correct sequencing of information, and will not be held responsible for any errors or omissions, or for the use of results obtained from the use of the information. This applies to any website linked to and from our site.

If there is a conflict between the information provided on our website and the laws and regulations governing the Texas County & District Retirement System, any decisions will be based on the law and not the information on this website.

You may not use this site to engage in conduct that is defamatory, libelous, threatening or harassing or that infringes on a third party's intellectual property or other proprietary rights. Your Registration Information

You agree and understand that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and user ID, which, together with your user ID, allows you to access your TCDRS online account profile.

Authentication by Third-Party Providers

TCDRS shares certain user information with third parties to provide authentication services on our website. These parties use this information to verify your identity, activity and location for security purposes only, and your information remains confidential and may not be disclosed.

You authorize your wireless carrier (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, or any other branded wireless operator) to disclose to TCDRS and its third-party service providers your mobile number, network status, customer type, customers role, billing type, mobile device identifiers (IMSI and IMEI) and other subscriber status and device details, if available, solely to verify your identity and prevent fraud for the duration of the relationship. Banking Information and Plaid

To enable direct deposit, TCDRS uses the service Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to gather your data from financial institutions. By using this service, you grant TCDRS and Plaid the right, power, and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial information from the relevant financial institution. You agree to your personal and financial information being transferred, stored, and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid Privacy Policy .

Estimates

The estimate of your benefit is an approximation for your general use only. Any estimate is based on assumptions and is not a statement of your actual benefit. The calculation of your final benefit is made at your retirement. Your actual benefit and retirement eligibility may differ from the figures and dates shown on the estimate. Changes to your account balance, service time, your employer’s benefit plan provisions, TCDRS annuity factors or the laws and rules governing the system, as well as changes to your personal information held in the records of the system, may affect the calculation of your final benefit.

At TCDRS, our primary focus is you. We take our relationship with our members very seriously and are honored that you have entrusted us with your future. Your privacy and security are very important to us, and that means protecting the privacy of your personal information as carefully as we safeguard your retirement account.

You have the right to know what personal information we collect about you. You also have the right to receive and review the information.

Why We Collect Your Information

The personal information we collect primarily is intended to improve your overall experience by helping us:

  • Administer your account
  • Provide the services you have requested
  • Process applications and transactions
  • Verify your identity, including information about the device you use to access your account and your location

Types of Information We Collect

Application and registration: When an account is opened upon employment or you register with us for online access, we collect personal information such as your name, address, phone number, email address, Social Security number, date of birth and account number.

Account changes: We collect your personal information when you ask us to update or change your account information.

Account activity: Once you have an account with us, we collect and maintain personal information about your account activity, including your deposits, balances and federal tax withholding. When you receive payments from your account, either by withdrawal or retirement, we report it to the IRS.

Website usage: During a visit online, our systems may use devices known as “cookies,” or other similar web tools to enhance your web experience.

Server requests: Our servers log the following data automatically:

  • The Domain Name System (DNS) or Internet Protocol (IP) address identifying your computer or internet service provider
  • The date and time of your visit
  • The pages, tools and services used
  • Your computer’s browser and operating system
  • The documents and forms you upload
  • Any errors you may have encountered during your visit

Use and Disclosure of Information: Information may be shared with partners directly involved in assisting TCDRS to perform certain tasks on our behalf, in compliance with this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. TCDRS will not sell, distribute, or lease any personal information to advertisers or other third parties. TCDRS may also disclose information if we believe that it is necessary to:

  • Comply with the law
  • Respond to requests from a legal, regulatory or governmental authority
  • Enforce TCDRS Terms of Use

Security: At TCDRS, we use industry standard storage and protection procedures in order to maintain the security, confidentiality, and integrity of personal information on servers, which are not accessible to the public. No data storage or transmission plan is without risk. In the event that there is a compromise or breach in the data environment, TCDRS will take reasonable measures to address the situation and notify you as expeditiously as possible; however, TCDRS will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorized access to information.

Your Right to Access Information

The Texas Public Information Act ("Act"), found in Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code, gives the public the right to request access to TCDRS information that is public under the Act.

Although the Act makes certain information available to the public and creates a presumption to that effect, some exceptions exist. For example, information contained in TCDRS records concerning an individual member, retiree, annuitant, beneficiary or alternate payee is generally confidential under the Act in accordance with Chapter 845.115 of the Texas Government Code. (There are limited exceptions to this general rule of confidentiality.)

Information TCDRS receives through our website (for example, through email or an online transaction) may be subject to public disclosure upon request under the Act depending on the applicability of any exceptions to the disclosure of the particular information.
