Senior Marketing Content Strategist

What we need

Be a digital storyteller for TCDRS to educate on benefits, support sound decision making, promote services, motivate financial planning behavior, and help build community among membership. Assist with planning and developing content strategy and implementation to deliver a personalized and engaging experience across all audiences.

What you’ll do

Create digital content strategy and tactics

  • Propose new ideas to enhance content and customer experience, look for opportunities to better personalize content through better targeting and understanding of the customer journey

  • Gather and analyze insights, data and customer feedback to inform strategy

  • Collaborate with Communications team to deliver plans and content aligned with communication goals

  • Work cross-functionally with business teams to understand audience needs

  • Create educational campaigns and recommend distribution channels as well as new channels

  • Develop and maintain content roadmaps

Collaborate on more engaging visuals, content formats

  • Help transition from text-based content to more engaging visuals and content formats (such as infographics, listicals and multimedia)

  • Develop frameworks and best practices for repurposing content

  • Advise on utilization of content and adaptations across various digital channels

Craft content for internal and external communications

  • Oversee the development of the social media content calendar

  • Develop and implement content that’s targeted to the audience need and career/life stage

  • Ensure consistency with desired tone, style guide, branding and messaging

  • Contribute to the evolution of brand and style guides to align with communication trends and preferences

  • Provide editing and feedback on new and existing content

  • Track and measure effectiveness of communication effort

Assist with TCDRS events (employer annual conference, all employee meetings, etc.)

  • Participate in ideation and planning sessions

  • Support content development to drive awareness and attendance at events

  • Recommend ways to make events more engaging

Stay current on communication and audience trends

  • Share information with Communications team

  • Encourage team spirit of collaboration, ideation and innovation

Support team with other initiatives as needed

  • Email content and distribution

  • Website projects and updates

  • Webinars and presentation development

What you should have


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience, specifically with content strategy and development, managing social media platforms

  • Strong writing and editing/proofreading skills

  • Experience with interpreting insights and analytics, research initiatives

  • Experience with the following is a plus:

    • Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or other marketing automation tool)

    • Graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite

    • Website content management such as EpiServer

    • Project management software such as Wrike

    • Google Analytics

    • Photography and video editing experience


  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, strong understanding of customer experience and customer journeys

  • High level of professionalism, ability to work well cross-functionally and independently, ability to present ideas in an organized, compelling and succinct way

  • Eye for design and visual storytelling, ability to convey our member’s stories through digital channels

  • Ability to manage projects with minimal assistance and within deadlines

  • Growth mindset, seeks opportunities to learn, accepts constructive feedback and enacts improvement

  • Creative and curious, interest in staying up to date on trends
