Senior Microsoft Business Intelligence Developer

We are looking for a Senior Microsoft Business Intelligence Developer to help us with an enterprise business intelligence solution, data modeling and data analytics using the Microsoft stack. You will design and develop database systems, data warehouses and ETL data interfaces while applying architecture principles and business objectives to implement appropriate technologies. You will work as part of a six-member data management team and collaborate with application architects, business resources, management and technical consultants.


What you'll do

  • Design, develop and expand data warehouse, data model and data analytic solutions.

  • Perform analysis, research data sources and apply application functionality to develop technical specifications for database and ETL functionality.

  • Develop data sourcing and extraction processes and determine systems of record for data usage in varying applications. Apply SSIS data integration tools, ETL and ELT development techniques to create business intelligence models from data sources.

  • Engage with business and technical stakeholders to coordinate development and design efforts in support of business needs.

  • Automate extraction, transformation and load data processes while constructing operational data stores. Review and validate data transport packages and data migration scripts.

  • Collect and import data from external sources into our data warehouse, ensuring datasets are complete and accurate.

  • Determine database requirements by analyzing business applications, business objectives and data structures.

  • Practice current development methods and establish documentation, development and testing standards to ensure quality and maintainability of automated solutions.

  • Apply ETL and data warehouse design, monitoring and process audit best practices during development.

  • Ensure project schedules are accomplished, communicated and adjusted as necessary through a collaborative review process.

  • Apply Microsoft Azure DevOps process to complete deployments, version control, and code promotion from development to production environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to ETL, data integration and data visualization failures.

  • Make recommendations for data solutions that support enterprise roadmaps to ensure design principles are executed.

  • Apply modeling governance and data warehouse guidelines to support design standards for creating data models and assess the impact of changes to the business intelligence solution.

  • Assess design patterns to solve complex technical and data challenges and leverage data to build value-added personalized customer experience, dashboards and SSRS reports.

  • Create and manage schema documentation and technical artifacts related to development.


What you should have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certifications and experience in computer information systems, computer science, management information systems or related field.

  • Preferred five years of experience in Power BI, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server development.

  • Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services and Azure DevOps is a plus.

  • Experience with ETL development, database object migration and validation, monitoring, batch and data processing, database structures, enterprise information management methodologies, technical documentation and relational database management systems.

  • Experience with dimensional modeling and design for data warehouse development.

  • Ability to translate business requirements, data analytics and visualization needs to technical solutions.

  • Experience with Agile project methodology.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, prioritize and execute tasks.

  • Ability to deliver high-quality and value products for internal and external customers while keeping abreast of new technologies and trends.
